This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Oakland follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Exquisite. Fresh. Affordable. Been coming here for a while now and itβs always a perfect 10/10 every single time, they never miss. Warm, quick service and masterful sushi chefs. My favorite sushi spot by far

Extremely underwhelming, especially given the other sushi options in the area. Rolls were sloppily made, mushy, and the fish did not taste fresh. Sauces were very sweet but weirdly lacked any other flavor. The miso soup and tempura sauce were both very watered down. Our vegetable tempura were clearly frozen vegetables and had pockets of raw flour inside. Maybe we just came on a bad night but given our experience, I would sadly not recommend this spot.

Mijori β A Classic at Lake Merritt! This little gem has been a mom-and-pop staple in Oakland for over 30 years, and theyβre still going strong. The service is consistently friendly, and the food never misses. Itβs a must-stop if youβre in the Lake Merritt area. They offer a variety of weekly specials depending on the fresh fish they receive, so thereβs always something new to try. Donβt skip the tuna saladβitβs topped with their house-made spicy Korean sauce, and itβs absolutely delicious. The sushi we ordered tonight was fresh, sweet, well-seasoned, and simply satisfying. Pair it with a cold beer or a glass of sake, and youβre in for a great evening. Come check them outβyou wonβt be disappointed! Donβt forget to follow for more Great foodie stops @Only1christinelu

Mijori I was seated right away. However, while others after me were told to sit anywhere, I was sitting towards the back and would have preferred a window. In fairness, I did not ask as this was my first time. ( For reference, there may have been three tables being used, one with a couple of people and the other two with individuals, so not busy.) It took a very long time after being seated to even being asked what I wanted. Even something as simple as water, so while I had planned on staying. I ended up food to go. I was tempted to walk out and leave prior to ordering, not only for not being offered something to drink, but menu was really dirty. Re wait. in fairness, it felt like a hometown place relaxed and slower, but water would have made the difference. The menu, FORTUNATELY, is not complete as I have a couple of sushi rolls that I always try first at a new restaurant just to gauge it against others. & they were not listed. Dragon roll and Caterpillar. The lady who helped me was genuinely nice when I asked for the 2 rolls. However, the quality of the rolls were sub par. The avocado appears to have been sitting out, and some of the elements of the sushi as a whole did not lo

Great sushi for reasonable prices. They do ask for proof of vaccination and ID. They have good specials. 4 rolls were enough for my husbnad and I. We got 49er Roll (10/10), Shrimp Tempura (10/10), Philadelphia (6/10), and New York (5/10) rolls.
